For those of you who may want to improve your transcoding time you may find this article in Linux Journal very useful; it talks about the use of multiple computers to parallelize the processing of the files to be transcoded. Excellent read even if you want to do more than just transcoding -- seti@home anybody? Also, it talks about using Condor to manage schedule batch jobs and other interfaces available today for Linux/UNIX. Also, it has some benchmarks -- we all love those little numbers. .
